OUR VERDICT

Cons:
  • It’s pricey for the hardware offered
  • No Android Lollipop at launch
  • Non-removable battery
  • Extra SIM and microSD card share a slot, you can’t have both in the Dual-SIM version
Samsung has done an awesome job with the build quality in Samsung’s newest Galaxy A-series smartphone. A-Series is known for its slimness. A7 has thickness of 6.3mm. A thin, tall phone, the gold variant of the Galaxy A7 has a shiny gold-dust finish on its rear, and a slightly less shiny front panel that’s patterned and covered in glass. The rear panel features extending camera lens, flanked by the LED flash and the speaker is a smart placement Samsung did that doesn’t affect the sound output when the phone is placed on a hard surface. Speaker volume is a little displeasing, though sound quality did not appear to be greatly degraded at maximum volume.
Samsung’s conventional oblong physical Home button is the capacitive backlit Back and Recents buttons that stay unlit and invisible until touched. MicroSD and SIM card slots are on its right side, along with the power button, and the volume on the left. The Micro-USB port and 3.5mm audio jack are on the bottom. Great build quality A7 is offering. The phone feels fraudulently light weighted for its metal-rimmed build, though it does weigh in at a relatively healthy 141 grams.
Super Amoled panel has excellent viewing angles in addition to the color vibrancy this display type has become known for. Unlike most other Super AMOLED screens in Samsung’s lineup however, the Galaxy A7’s display – even at full brightness – is not as bright as we’ve come to expect. It is negotiable. The touch response is good. The Galaxy A7 uses Samsung’s familiar TouchWiz UI running on top of Android 4.4 KitKat with no word yet on a Lollipop upgrade
Galaxy A7’s 13-megapixel rear camera seemed to do an elegant job. The camera interface is simplistic; though it allows average amount of customization and lets you choose your own shortcuts from a variety of functions. The front-facing 5-megapixel camera also does a decent job, and the phone has some selfie-centric software features: Ultra Wide Shot and Auto Selfie which is also impressive part of the phone.
