About Apple Founded in a garage in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne, Apple began as a personal computer pioneer that today makes everything from laptops to portable media players. Both materials have their pros and cons. Silicone is easier to grip, so it probably helps prevent drops better. And silicone does not scuff or scratch as noticeably as leather can. But silicone attracts dust and lint, which adheres to it readily. One of the other responses to this question claims that silicone resists dust. This simply isn't true. It should be noted that that answer was posted before the Apple Silicone Case went on sale, so there is no way that the respondent could have written his answer based on actual experience. I have personally seen several iPhone 6 Silicone Cases in use, and I can say with 100% certainty that they DO collect lint and dust. The Leather Case does not.
Being an organic material, leather ages with use. This may be perceived as a desirable effect or not, depending on personal preference.
Personally, I opted for the Leather Cases for my 6 Plus. The juxtaposition of the natural warmth of leather and the cool sophistication of aluminum and glass is very appealing. And the look, smell and feel of the leather adds to the overall allure of the 6 or 6 Plus.
I tried both at the Apple store and found the silicone case a bit sticky to my suit pant pocket. I've purchased the leather one which is great but will certainly show marks more than the silicone one, which I'll pass off as 'character'.
